  • Open your curtains on sunny days during the winter to heat your house.
  • Make sure the fridge isn't too cold- not only does it use more energy, it's bad for the food!
  • Buy energy star appliances- they're certified to use less energy.
  • Ask your parents to install energy-efficient windows- they keep cold/hot air out so your heat/AC doesn't work as hard.
  • Take cold showers- this saves the energy your water heater uses.
  • Switch to green power! Ask your landlord or power company to make the change.
  • Start a club to green up your school!
  • Go to city hall and get them to start printing on recycled paper. Enlist family and friends to help!
  • Send an e-blast to your family and friends with information and tips about recycling.
  • Sign an online petition- one more voice means one more step in the right direction.
  • Take your own cloth or canvas bag when you go shopping- groceries, clothes, whatever!
