- Expand your knowledge of your foreign friends culture by looking up info on the web
- Study Asian American art, like the Vietnam War Memorial.
- Study the Eastern philosophers, like Confucius.
- Spend a week studying the contributions of immigrants to the USA.
- Learn about five Latino revolutionaries, like Che' Guevara and Emiliano Zapata.
- If an insensitive joke isn't funny, let people know
- Do research on your personal heritage.
- Work at a restaurant with a different culture.
- If you are in an ethnically diverse area (i.e. a city) spend a weekend hanging out in an ethnic neighborhood like Little Italy.
- Learn a foreign language and/or a foreign culture.
- Read a book from a different culture, fiction or nonfiction.
- Don't let people perpetuate stereotypes! Speak out if someone says something negative!
- Ask your teacher to dedicate a class to have a discussion about discrimination.
- Make a Rant/Rave video about immigration and post it at DoSomething.org/ShareSomething to spread the word.
- Post a comment on Do Something and tell the world what you think about the president and/or the presidential nominees.
- Research your family tree and see if anyone in your past immigrated.
- Discuss your opinions:learn what others think about the causes of immigration in our country and globally and share your opinion
- When you donate to an organization, find out where the money goes and make sure the organization supports your values.
- Encourage friends to get involved in your interests: add Tibet as a cause on your Facebook or myspace page
