This painting represents the unique facets of my life. It illustrates the idea that we can never tell a person's story until we've walked a mile in their shoes. Music, art, literature, and nature have all had a profound impact on me, and I wanted to celebrate that in this piece. Hopefully, these "footsteps" give others a glimpse of who I am.

Mixed Media Materials:
shoes-painted in acrylic
shoelaces-rope
photos- personal polaroids
pressed flowers
newspaper
sheet music- aged with coffee
Exposure to the arts help to broaden the minds of students, adding depth and significance to how they see the world. Simply put, art appeals to our senses, thoughts, and emotions, keeping us in touch with our humanity. Imagine a world in which there must exist a practical purpose for everything with no room for the aesthetics. How desolate would that life be? Furthermore, art allows us to escape from our realities and fall into a trance of shapes and colors. Ultimately, art education gives students an outlet for creativity and freedom, and it is as essential to schools as any other academic course. This issue is very personal to me because the funding for our school's art program has been consistently cut by about $1,000 every year for the past 5 years. Therefore, I plan to pour my heart and soul into this campaign and get the word out, and you can quote me on that.
