Candidates Depend on Youth Vote
In the wake of Barack Obama's seventh consecutive state wins -- last night he blew by Hillary Clinton with victories in Virginia and Maryland, as well as Washington D.C. -- a Do Something poll shows that teens are getting his message of change too. When asked which would be more groundbreaking, a female or a black president, 67% said a black president. Still, Hillary's bid for the highest office in the land is quite a feat considering women got the right to vote in 1920- less than one hundred years ago! The two are running neck and neck with Obama's delegate numbers at 1270 and Clinton's at 1231.

Green Valentine Gift Ideas
If you're planning on gift-giving, we have some great socially conscious and fair trade options that we beg you to consider. Fair trade products let you know that people who grew, created, or manufactured them were treated justly and got a fair price for their efforts. So here's some inexpensive, socially conscious gifts for your favorite someone.

Clubs
DS Clubs Rally Behind Teens for Jeans!

  • The Reality Check is a small but mighty force making a big difference for the young homeless in sunny Florida, making a personal denim-delivery to their local shelter.
  • The Good Wins Volunteers didn't stop at their lofty goal of 1000 pairs of jeans. While they're at it they're educating their community, dressing in crazy outfits, and scoring discounted movie tickets.
  • Columbia High School's brand new club kicked off with a strong TFJ campaign. The club prez donated 11 pairs of denim herself!
  • Veterans Memorial Middle School's Club lived the important lesson "they need this more than I do".

Plum Grant Winner of the week
Johanna Sheu Wins a $500 Plum Grant!
State
: MD
Age: 20
Project: Sandtown Health Awareness Speaker Series
Description: Johanna's outstanding program will offer life-changing seminars in Sandtown-Winchester, Maryland, a 72 square block neighborhood in West Baltimore, where residents are struggling with unemployment and health issues. The median income is around $15,000/year and over 50% of the population suffers from unemployment. Researchers have proven that low income correlates highly with decreased access to and knowledge of appropriate health care. As a way to increase health care awareness, Joanna has organized the "New Song's Health Awareness Seminar Series." The seminars will run February through May and will consist of invited speakers presenting and teaching individuals how to care for themselves, as well as practical and accessible way to improve their lifestyles.

Legend of Wonder Boy Intern(part 1): Puppie Rescue
The story - now legend - of Wonder Boy the Intern has grown to the point where it has become necessary to track it in a multi part series. In this episode Wonder Boy unleashes a dog that was caught in an elevator door in the Do Something lobby before the elevator made it to the top floor. But most amazingly he didn't spill a drop of our coffee.
