11 Cause Related SAT Words

It's hard enough having to memorize the order of the planets or important dates in history (In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue). On top of that, you are also prepping for SAT by reviewing the thousands of possible vocab words that could appear on the test.

We chose 11 words that might be easier to remember if you associate them with cause.

  1. Envision - imagine, predict.
    Envisioning an oil-free future may be hard now, but we feel that we’re getting closer and closer.
  2. Reconcile - bring disputing side together again.
    If we are going to get anything done about the problem at hand, we will have to reconcile our personal differences.
  3. Succinct - clear, short and well-expressed.
    “2, 4, 6, 8, What you are doing is reprehensible!” is too long! Our chant needs to be more succinct!
  4. Ambivalent - undecided; having 'mixed' feelings.
    We handed out flyers and made our case all day long; the community, however, appeared ambivalent to our effort.
  5. Galvanized - stirred into action.
    Seeing images of the storm’s horrible aftermath really galvanized our movement.
  6. Skeptical - doubtful.
    The volunteers were skeptical of the Senator's promise to reform health care.
  7. Undermine - attempt to overthrow; weaken.
    Your pessimism is not helping; it only has potential to undermine our entire movement.
  8. Venerable - worthy of respect. The efforts of those in the civil rights movement to ensure racial equality is a venerable example for present-day volunteers.
  9. Condoning - tolerating.
    If you think that we will be condoning the events of the last few days, you are seriously misunderstanding the goals of our organization.
  10. Exacerbated - made worse.
    The government has only exacerbated this horrible problem. Now it's time for ordinary citizens like us to do something.
  11. Eradicate - wipe out
    We will not stop until we have eradicated bullying and violence in our school.
