Today, Iran’s president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, is set to address the UN General Assembly in NYC, and thousands of protesters are traveling to New York to demonstrate against him.
Iranians living in exile in the U.S. are expected to arrive on the scene to show their support for Iran’s opposition party and protest the leader who they believe won re-election in a fraudulent election that spurred a brutal crackdown. During the crackdown, over 100 journalists, government officials and citizens were arrested, and many detainees were mistreated while imprisoned or are still being held without a trial.
It is also reported that certain countries, including Canada, will boycott Ahmadinejad today for his anti-Israeli sentiments.
If you want to join young activists in their opposition, you can write your representatives in U.S. Congress or at the UN and ask them to take action.
