Everyone is buzzing about Zac Efron and his movie Charlie St. Cloud. Stop rewinding the part of the trailer where he takes off his shirt and watch the whole clip.
WHY isn't there more buzz about the fact that protagonist Charlie is talking to a dead version of his brother!?! We're gonna be seeing this (we swear) in hopes that a friend or a parental figure (played by an actor way too young to be Zac's actual dad or mom) eventually encourages Charlie to call a hotline or seek professional help.
Now that we think about it, there are a ton of movies where characters suffer mentally due to ghostly haunts.
Sometimes they haunt a troubled little Haley Joel Osment in THE SIXTH SENSE
Sometimes they materialize just to play baseball in your cornfield (ala FIELD OF DREAMS)
Sometimes ghosts possess you, like in the Robert Downey, Jr. flick HEART AND SOULS
And SOMETIMES, like in CONTACT, aliens decide to mess with your mind and appear as people you knew instead of their true alien selves.
But eventually, the ghosts accept that they gotta let you go (i.e. classic date movie GHOST)
Thankfully professional help can aid you in getting rid of ghosts. Okay, these are imaginary friends, but we think it still counts.
Just make sure that you're the one being haunted. Don't wanna end up like Nicole Kidman in THE OTHERS
What can you do
In all seriousness, grief can be overwhelming. Help a friend in grief. If you're the one suffering, it's never a bad idea to start by contacting ahotline.
