Katy Perry pokes fun at censorship

Katy Perry raised quite a few eyebrows when footage of her singing her hit song “Hot and cold” on Sesame Street hit YouTube. There were numerous complaints that the songstress appeared to be “too sexy” forchildren’s eyes. Needless to say, the segment was cut.

Well Katy poked fun at the controversy on SNL Saturday night. Katy’s skit had her portraying a children’s library volunteer who’d gotten in trouble for her revealing attire. She even wore a low cut Elmo shirt. Although she didn’t say too much, her co-star certainly did. Maya Rudolph, who was interviewing Perry, said this, “Who cares if kids are looking at boobs?” she asked rhetorically. “Boobs feed babies…I turned on CSI the other night, and there’s a dead guy with a worm in his eye. But we can’t look at the tops of boobs?"

Despite the controversy, Katy is lining up appearances all over the place, including a guest spot on the hit show The Simpsons. The episode which will air Dec. 5 on FOX , has her appearing as herself in a live-action segment that features Simpson’s characters as puppets. “In the wake of Elmo’s terrible betrayal, the Simpsons puppets wish to announce they stand felt-shoulder-to-shoulder with Katy Perry,” says series executive producer Al Jean in a statement to EW.com
