Obama admin says up to a million new jobs created

The White House released a report this morning, stating that the Obama administration’s economic stimulus program, the biggest in the country’s history, has created or saved at least 650,000 jobs nationwide.
After rolling out the $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the government has so far spent $339 billion and says the actual number of jobs created by the measure is probably closer to 1 million because today’s job creation report only focuses on $150 billion of the $339 billion spent so far.
The administration claims that the recovery package has saved the country from an economic depression and cites 3.5% growth in the economy over the past three months.
Some critics take issue with the White House’s optimistic tone and point to a growing unemployment rate, which is currently at 9.8% nationwide (a 26-year high).
What do you think? Is the economy looking up? Is Obama’s team doing the right thing to keep the economy on track? Let us know!
