Once you're sufficiently inspired, take action. Get involved in Green the White House, attend Do Something's New York boot camp, plan your Global Youth Service Day project, and post it all by June 30th! Reminder: June 30th is the second clubs project deadline of the year.

Are you and your club working on something you're really proud of? Do you want to see your club in the news? E-Mail me at mstevenson@dosomething.org.

1 in 3 Campaign Update

You stood up to dating violence. Nationwide, over 115,000 bracelets were ordered. Do Something received so many requests, we had to place a hold on new orders. Congratulations for taking the lead on this important issue.

The 1 in 3 campaign was highlighted on Access Hollywood, E!, CNN Headline News, and the Today Show. The reenactment PSA was distributed widely via facebook and the blogosphere.

There's so much you can still do to stand up to dating violence. Check out the action ideas and change that stat!

Green the White House

We know you have great ideas for going green, now show our Prez! To join, find a fun way to green your home, record yourself doing it and share it here. You can virtually tour the White House at GreentheWhiteHouse.com.

Five lucky teens will be highlighted on the Do Something homepage and snag an eco-friendly DS tote packed with CDs, DVDs, and an iPod shuffle!

Small changes = huge difference

  • The average American household dumps 26,000 lbs. of carbon dioxide into the air every year. Replacing just 6 incandescent bulbs in your house will cut your yearly carbon emissions by 600 lbs.

  • If every American skipped one meal of chicken a week and ate vegetarian instead, the carbon dioxide savings would be the same as taking more than half a million cars off of U.S. roads.

Club Spotlight: A&M Consolidated High School

A&M Consolidated's DS Club is all about the environment. They're taking the lead, Increase Your Green style, and placing stickers on all the school's light swtiches to remind students and teachers to "Be Bright. Turn Off the Lights".

Maybe they can convince Ricky Martin to re-write his smash hit "Don't Turn Off the Lights". I think they've got what it takes. Check out their project and you'll agree.

Looking for ideas to green your school? Sign up to be part of next year's Increase Your Green competition.

Meet the 2009 Do Something Awards Finalists!

These year's finalists are up for 4 $10,000 grants and one grand prize of $100,000! They're working on HIV/Aids Prevention, Tolerance and Awareness, Environmental Protection, Access to Education, and so much more. These are true leaders of the Do Something generation. Read All About 'em!

Even better, come meet them in New York. Do Something is holding a boot camp on Saturday, April 25th. All 12 finalists will be in attendance. Join us! Shake their hands. They're heroes.

Global Youth Service Day

Global Youth Service Day is the largest annual service event in the world. GYSD highlights and celebrates the difference youth make in their communities year-round through community service and service-learning.
