Clubs June Eblast

Hey [[Email]] !

It's almost summer and we hope your Club plans to stay active through the sunshine-filled months. What better way to use that extra free time than taking action in your community?

We have lots of exciting campaigns coming up including Do Something 101. After a successful day of collecting school supplies, you can head over to Baskin Robbins for some free ice cream.

Make sure you post your Spring projects by June 30th to maintain your status as an active Do Something club and continue to receive free stuff in the mail!

Do Something 101

Back to school is a really hard time for kids in need. School supplies are pricey. So, Do Something about it.

We've teamed up with Staples for another year of Do Something 101. Start a school supply drive with your club this summer. Collect new school supplies and drop them off at any Staples store. We'll make sure they get in the hands of kids in your community who need them by September.

Ciara supports Do Something 101. Check out her PSA and learn how you can get involved at www.dosomething101.org

Apply for the 2009-2010 Do Something YAC

Have a say in Do Something campaigns and programs! Help design and improve DoSomething.org! Fly to New York City this fall and spend 2 days with 30 amazing teens at the Do Something offices. How?

Apply for the 2009-2010 Youth Advisory Council (YAC)! The YAC is an integral part of the Do Something team. They steer campaigns, programs, and web and marketing strategy to get even more teens involved in social action.

The application will be available in July. Sign up to be notified as soon as it goes live!

Green the White House

We know you have great ideas for going green, now show our Prez! Find a fun way to green your home, record yourself doing it and share it here. You can virtually tour the White House at GreentheWhiteHouse.com.

Five winners will be highlighted on the DS homepage and snag an eco-friendly DS tote packed with CDs, DVDs, and an iPod shuffle!

Small changes = huge difference

  • The average American household dumps 26,000 lbs. of carbon dioxide into the air every year. Replacing just 6 incandescent bulbs in your house will cut your yearly carbon emissions by 600 lbs.

  • If every American skipped one meal of chicken a week and ate vegetarian instead, the carbon dioxide savings would be the same as taking more than half a million cars off of U.S. roads.

I Serve, You Serve

Changing the world can be exhausting - especially in the hot summer. You deserve a cool treat. So, volunteer and get some free ice cream from Baskin Robbins!

July 13th - 17th Baskin Robbins is offering a free Soft Serve cone to Do Something members. Clubs get special offers all summer long. Don't miss out! Check back at www.dosomething.org/serve
