Cause(s) to check out:

Push Play-ers in the house! From left: C.J., Derek, Nick and Steve.

CGG recently posted a Good Band Alert on the four Long Island teens known as Push Play. While not all of America has succumbed to Push Play mania (yet!), if the 19 squealing fans waiting for their heroes outside of our offices were any indication, these guys will be coming to a radio station and concert hall near you!

(Those of you who live in the already clued-in New York tri-state area are in luck: You can check out Push Play when they perform on May 17 at Z100’s ZVillage, the free fest pre-Zootopia in the parking lot of the Izod Center in East Rutherford, NJ. FYI: Do Something is proud to be a part of Zootopia; look for our booths in ZVillage and come say hi!)

C.J. Baran, 18, Derek Ries, 19, Nick Deturris, 18, and Steve Scarola, 17, stopped by to chat about their Purpose Tour, in which a portion of ticket and CD sales are contributed to a variety of charitable organizations. To date, these humble and humanitarian heartthrobs have raised more than $62,000 for donation purposes, a huge act of kindness when you consider that Push Play is not yet making mega-bucks or signed to a major label!

CGG: "So why not take the money and each buy a brand-new car?"

Steve: "We come from a priviledged background and have so much, we feel a sense of responsibility to give back and help others."

A lot of their charitable giving is driven by fan involvement. "In some cases, a fan will come up with an idea for a charity event and invite us to play," Nick said. Talk about paying it forward: "We have a fan who sold our autographed CDs on EBay to raise money to protect endangered species."

Although CJ, Steven and Nick are busy high school seniors and budding rock stars, they still find the donate their time to volunteer for activities sponsored by their high schools, such as car washes, walk-a-thons, soup kitchen visits and travels to New Orleans to help build homes with Habitat for Humanity for victims of Hurricane Katrina. And Derek is no slacker either; he's a full-time college student with a full scholarship and aspirations to attend law school. These guys have brains, looks, talent, and hearts of gold. (We'd say they're too good to be true, but we met them in the flesh, so we can vouch for their existence.)

Push Play http://www.myspace.com/pushplayrox have a ton of shows coming up. Please go out and support them. You'll get to see a fun and energetic live show and contribute to a good cause. On that note, CGG is proud to announce that Push Play has named our parent organization, Do Something http://www.dosomething.org, to the list of charities that they support. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts, guys!

Watch this space for more from our Push Play interview, as well as a report from their April 26 show at the Nokia Theater in New York.
