Hey horns_fan_125...

Hey horns_fan_125... recycling is really easy. Your town probably has a program setup where you just sort your recyclables (papers and cardboards in one bin and plastics and tins in another). If your school doesn't have a recycling program you should start one - think of how much you could save???

there's tons of info here http://www.dosomething.org/causes/recycling

Making your clothing green too!

I love that people are starting to recycle so much more, but what about clothes?? No-body mentions clothing when recycling or discussing 'going green'! Why not recycle your clothing by giving it to good will or re-designing it yourself? Have you ever stopped to ask where your clothes come from? Organic food is becoming so popular, which is fantastic, but what about organic clothing?? Cotton is one of the dirtiest plants around using nearly a cup full of pesticides just to produce one white cotton t-shirt. I think people forget about it because it doesn't affect you directly as organic food does. Food goes into the body and so you take in whatever the farmer has put on it, but pesticides on cotton can't affect you the customer, but they do hurt the farmers if they don't have the right protection which is usually the case in 3rd world countries. Shops sell what they believe we will buy, so we have to demand the change.

I just got a new book today

I just got a new book today that's called Wake Up and
Smell the Planet that has a bunch of green things to do and eco friendly products.

another thing...

it is summer and it is hot, but i'm trying to be careful abuot using the air conditioner. does my fam really need it on all the time? it uses a ton of energy...

Recycling

I am doing something called Adopt a highway in September. A group of people and I will clean up a highway and recycle all of the trash.

eco friendly

Recycling is just putting plastic, paper, aluminum cans, in recycling containers and shipping them off to the recyclin plant.

I am also vegetarian

What I do:
I recycle
I reuse plastic baggies
I take shorter showers and turn off the water when scrubbing
I have my tv, dvd player, and other electronics on a power bar that i unplug when i'm done using it
I encourage others to do good things for the environment
I try not to use paper plates or napkins
I do not use water bottles unless necessary... and then i recycle them

One Question

How do you recycle exactly? I know what it is I just don't know how you do it. I would LOVE to start recycling, but I guess you can see my dillema.

Little stuff helps

I'm recycling more and am buying produce at my local farmer's market. And I'm working on ways to get even more "green." If we all did a little something, we could make a big difference.

green stuff

Umm... there are farmers markets for people who want local fresh foods from nearby farmers. It is an awesome place. I go there to get fresh, non-continentally and non-imported foods. Hooray.

green stuff

i just became a vegetarian. this is good for me, good for those animals--and i also read that it is good for the planet. supposedly growing and killing all those animals for food takes up a crazy amount fo energy.
