Each year American cats contribute eight billion pounds of used cat litter to the nation’s landfills. Traditional clay based cat litter gets buried in the gigantic human litter box that we call landfills. Clay isn't biodegradable and doesn't break down. In fact, when a special clay mineral called Sodium Bentonite is added as a clumping agent, it can swell to up to 15 times its original volume, filling landfills up even more rapidly. While environmentally friendly kitty litter is available, there’s an even better option – potty train your kitty! Yes, it’s possible. PETA gave DS an exclusive statement: “Sadly many cats PETA sees don’t have the luxury of living inside, much less that of a clean litter box. If training a cat to use the toilet can be done safely and humanely, then we're all for it! But keeping cats inside the home would be the more environmentally beneficial, as free roaming cats decimate wildlife populations and disrupt ecosystems daily.”

We have a problem with my 2 new kittens.
Twix and Milkshake [I was hungry when I named them =P]

Twix likes to pee on my moms bed. and ONLY my MOMS bed.

Milkshake likes to scratch rolls of toilet tissue and paper towels.

My family and I left for a weekend of vacation.
My aunt was supposed to come over and clean the litterboxes and let the dog out while we were gone.
Well, Btwn my aunts last check in with the cats and the time we arrived home,
4 toilet paper rolls were torn to SHREDS.
and, Twix decided to pee ALL OVER MY MOMS NEW SHEETS.

We had a guest, and the smell was so horrid.
It was hilarious, to say the least.

I agree with dragonwings. I don't think we should make them use the toilet just train them to go outside. That way our parents don't think we're crazy and the earth gets to use their...um...wastes.

there is too big of a risk of them falling in. teach them to go outside. no kitty litter and the earth will reuse their stuff.
