See It: The Community being helped

I started a Youth in Action Group with a couple of friends to try and make a difference in the world. We call ourselves "Outside The Box." We now have more than 25 members in New Jersey and friends in Texas starting a chapter. Our initial project is to raise $8,500 to build a school in Sierra Leone, Africa through a charity called Free The Children. Free The Children is the worlds largets network of kids helping kids through education. We chose Sierra Leone because of the United Nation's statement that it is the worst place in the world to live and we wanted to help change that.
We were also concerned about the current war in DR Congo and what was happening to the women and children there. Through Women for Women Internation, we are now sponsoring a woman from there so that she might make her life better for herself and her children.

we started a youth in action group on freethechildren.org website. anyone can go on there and start a group and choose a project to fundraise for. your group can be just you or you and a few friends. we did this because most of us have sports after school, so this we do on our own and meet about once a week at my house to learn about kids around the world and come up with fundraising ideas.
we would love it if you want to help us with our current project! what our friends in texas are doing is they signed up for their group and called it "outside the box texas". when you send in donations, you just say that you want it to go to "outside the box" in new jersey's project, or if you send them to us, made out to Free The Children, we can send it with ours. Free The Children issues tax receipts for any donation over $10. hope to talk to you soon!
