See It: The Community being helped
The National Students of AMF (Ailing Mothers & Fathers) Support Network is a national, nonprofit organization whose mission is to support all grieving college students, empower all college students to get involved in the fight against terminal illnesses, and raise awareness about the needs of grieving college students.
National Students of AMF accomplishes this mission by developing Campus Chapters, providing interactive e-support online, awarding scholarships, distributing research grants to enhance the field of adolescent bereavement studies, conducting conferences on college student bereavement, and holding fundraising events- including the annual Boot Camp to Beat Cancer.
You can help to start a chapter of Students of AMF on your college campus. There are 4 easy steps to start a chapter. Click here to learn more.
OR, by participating in or organizing a National Students of AMF Support Network Boot Camp 2 Beat Cancer in your community, you can raise awareness about the role that a healthy lifestyle plays in disease prevention, raise money to help fight cancer, and support the loved ones of those affected by cancer.
Much more than a 1-hour outdoor workout, the Boot Camp is a time to celebrate those who have battled cancer, remember those who have been lost and to fight back—TO BEAT CANCER. By participating, you have the power to bring us closer toward a future where college students do not have to grieve the death of loved ones. Until then, a portion of the funds will also go toward helping those college students who do struggle with the loss of a loved one.
The founder, David Fajgenbaum, named Students of AMF in memory of his mother, Anne Marie Fajgenbaum (AMF), who pased away in October 2004 after a 15-month battle with brain cancer during David's sophomore year at Georgetown.
