See It: The Community being helped
I have been offered the opportunity to instruct an educational program at Louisiana 4-H University in Baton Rouge,LA held on the Louisiana State University campus. 4-H University is a 3 day long competition along with educational seminars for youth across the state of Louisiana. Each year, this event draws between 1250-1500 high school youth from across the state. The students get the opportunity to choose from among 20 different educational programs. The money from this grant would be spent to help fund materials and the supplies for my class on Driver Safety. I would like to provide each participant with a t-shirt which would advertise the KeeptheDrive.com website. Approximately 75-100 youth would attend my sessions. These youth will be able to take the t-shirts back to their hometowns to help spread the word in their local communities to promote safe driving among teens. I also plan to provide door prizes for those youth who are able to answer driving questions correctly. At the end of the class, we would walk around the LSU campus and distribute stickers and cling ons to help spread the word further among summer school students currently in residence on campus. In addition to being on the receiving end of the educational message, these youth would get a hands on experience of an activism project to help spread the word on safe driving.
