Orphaned Children

Hunger

For a very long time I've wanted to create a foundation in which children in third world countries and orphanages could have access to not only clean water and food, but education about these foods and agriculture to better prepare them for a life on their own. Does anybody have any suggestions about this idea or how I may go about beinging to evolve it and put it into a reality? Thanks!

Orphaned children

Very noble of you,
No need to explain why you would want to start your own Non profit it does involve some leg work.
1.) Choose a name for your Org.
2.)Apply for business license
3.)Create mission statement
4.)Create By-laws
4.)Appoint directors
5.)Apply for federal and State tax exmpetions 1024,1023 and 501 c 3 forms.
For more information look at these resources...
http://www.legalzoom.com, http://tsworbol-law.com/non-profit-resources.
If you feel that this is a bit over-whelming then look at this as a possible option http://www.firstgiving.com you can create your on fund raising campaigns for whatever charity or cause you like.

Best of luck

That is a really great idea. My first reaction is that there are already many organizations that provide aide to children (including orphaned children) in underdeveloped countries.

do some searches on www.guidestar.org or charitynavigator.org

take look at orgs like Save the Children and invisiblechildren.com

Then if you think there isn't overlap between what you want to do and what is already out there check out this place for the basics on getting funding and setting up a 501(c)3 for your org.
