I also think that homeless people are in their positions for different reasons, but it's life...and life has a funny way of putting us through obstacles. I don't believe that homeless people are destined to be homeless forever, there are tools that can help them better their situation and programs/people as well to help them. Don't you agree that if they have a determination, they will eventually pull themselves out their misfortunes?

I know this homeless guy that's pretty intelligent. He was a electrian something went wrong i think a death in his family which took a real toll in his life. So don't think that all homeless people are dumb and they did that do themselves because when I found how intelligent that guy was it told me never look down on people no matter what situation there in..

A big cause of homelessness is mental illness. I've read that as many as 33% of the homeless suffer from some sort of mentla illness.

And, did you know that 33% of the homeless in teh USa are under the age of 12? Yup. Runaways, kids who are homeless with their families, etc...

Also, we need to look at the definition of homeless--I know we all think about people living in boxes on the street, but people living in cars or moving from motel to motel or relatives couches--they are homeless too.

And, did you know that a major cause of homelessness in the USA is health care costs? So imagine someone in your family gets into a huge car accident or has some awful disease--and you don;t have health insurance. your family might go totally bust paying those emergency care bills...and then miss a couple of rent payments...and soon enough, you're booted from your home. You stay with cousins for a while, but then that welcome wears out. Your dad loses his job because he can't work anymore--and soon those benefits end too. Now what???

To play devil's advocate, what would giving them a quarter actually do? You don't know if he's going to use it towards buying food or buying cigarettes or alcohol. And if he does use it to buy food, why waste your own pocket change when he can go to a soup kitchen that our tax dollars pay for anyway and get the meal for free?

No one can name every reason for a person to become homeless. And people aren't ignorant to homelessness, they pretend to be ignorant so they won't feel bad about not doing anything. It's like if they don't see the person who's just skin and bones holding a sign that reads, "I just need food. Will do anything," then they aren't actually there. Some people actually feel better if they can give a reason for people becoming homeless, which more often than not, is that they're all druggies who spend all their money on speed, cocaine, etc. It's really sad what some people will do to make them feel better, giving excuses for not giving those poor people a measley 50 cents.

I believe that homeless people are homeless for many different reasons. In many cases it has alot to do with the persons financial stability. The core of homelessness is that once a person is homeless their resources are limited. It's very difficult to find shelters, and uncomfortable to live in. No one wants to offer a helping hand instead they turn their nose up to them and treat them as if they don't exsist. Many are very ignorant to the issue, making it impossible to end it.

We need to do somthing about the homless people that are not living because they make up 5% of the community everybody lives in.

People are homeless for different reasons; some are because they lost their job and home, others because they became involved in drugs, some even because their family left for whatever reason.

Homeless people are not all at fault some people are just plain rude and do not understand that homless people are trying to stay alive instead of trying to get a home. So if you think that homeless people became homeless on purpose then you need to check with the homeless people. Right on AnimalLuver!!!! You Go!!!!!!
