I love trying to stop Global Warming. I think its a huge issue because its the whole Earth that is in danger! Who agrees? Also, Stephen Hawking thinks that humans will be extinct in a thousand years because of global warming. What do you think?

Ice Age
I saw that too, but I think human intervention is a big factor in that. The jet stream is doing some wacky things. A storm system was stuck over northwest Texas last summer and just swirled and it rained forever. When that tornadoe hit up in Utah a few years ago that should of been a slap in the face for us to wake up.
Scientists aren't ALWAYS right!!!
I know global warming has been an issue for a long time and everything... but we can't believe EVERYTHING scientists are telling us. Believe it or not, they don't know everything. Do you believe that "you are created from a big bang?" Seriously people....
I don't think global warming is going to "kill us all and the planet...." The end of the Earth will most likely come before that. It's not that big of a deal. But that doesn't mean we can trash our planet. It's still our job to act as citizens of the world and take care of the earth.
i heard from some show on
i heard from some show on discovery channel or nat geo that we are due for another ice age even though we just came out of one
global warming or no global warming: either way time to cut down
Even if we aren't the cause of global warming like some claim, we still have been bad to the environment for the past few decades.
Is it really?
I believe it is humans that is creating global warming, and i am very worried about it! we are polluting too much and it is melting the o-zone layer, which pretects us from the suns rays. that has never happened before. if it has, we would all be dead. our problem is that not enough people in the world care, and we should, for it will affect us all.
Human Extinction
Stephen Hawking's timeline I believe is a bit off. Humans multiplying faster than available resources to support them and our intervention in nature will difinitely have a head-on collision way before one thousand years.
You're right
The introduction of the industrial era has changed the game.
The Obvious.
With every country trying to beat the other for economical power and not considering the environment you cannot say that all the pollutants going into the atmosphere, soil and water sources are not factors of Global Warming, hence it is man-made. At the rate we are going how much longer can nature support our drive to deplete it of its natural resources (deforestation, fresh water being dammed affecting ecosystems down river, mining causing erosion, growing cities taken over more wildlife habitat, radioactive waste-dump sites (Wether it be on land or sea), and the list goes on and on. I think the discovery of the frozen Wooly Mammoth and the Iceman threw a wrench in every study about our planet and even our existense. i.e carbon dating.
RE: Global Warming is not man made.
I sure wish you were right, Mello. But the astronomers have done all the calculations, and NASA has measured solar flux, and you know what? It's just not due to the sun. You ought to do your homework: read what the National Academy of Science says and also the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. They compared all the possible causes, and the only thing that explains it is the greenhouse effect being caused by heat absorption of greenhouse gases like CO2, methane, and nitrous oxide, which after thousands of years of stable levels started spiking since the dawn of the Industrial Revolution about 150 years ago. And lately it's accelerating along with the concentration of those ghg's. And what you say about the temperature rise is just plain wrong -- where'd you get your info (misinfo that is, and you shouldn't be spreading it)? In fact, temperature has gone up by about 1 deg F in the 20th century and is projected to go up by another 2 to 5 deg F by 2100 unless people everywhere change the way they produce and use energy. And guess what -- we have the technology right now. All it takes is the political will. As a side benefit, the development and deployment of clean energy will clean up the environment, create energy independence, and create a new entrepreneurial/economic boom. It's true the oil, coal, and power industries may suffer. So will the oil producing nations. But everyone who uses fuel will benefit.
I AGREE
I AGREE WITH YOU!
Please hear me out...
I know this sounds stupid, but if we really wanted to I think we could do something...I know this sounds stoopid but i really like this website and am making alot of posts - I was bored out of my skull and typed in "GIVE ME SOMETHING TO DO!" and your website is gr8!

Global Warming
There is a true global warming, and there is another global warming.
While Prof. Hawking's rather cynical statement may be true, realize that the validity of it stops when we find that this extinction will have no effect on Stephen Hawking.
The Global Warming that many of us see on TV and in advertisements is often greatly exaggerated. Many of the ads and programs you see on TV stress the worst of the problems, and in a sense, these ads and programs are shielding a part of the truth away from its audience.
For instance, while everyone has heard that Antarctica is shrinking(radius is getting smaller) it is also true that Antarctica's ice layers are growing thicker each year, a fact that many documentaries seem to "miss."
While you may now think that you have been tricked, also take into account the fact that Global warming is a SERIOUS problem. While I do agree that the earth is a powerful entity capable of balancing itself, humans have previously shown themselves to be capable of upsetting this balance quickly. By making the Global warming issue seem more serious than it is, environmentalists and other advocates are actually preventing disaster from occurring.
Magazines like NatGeo and others are often backed by environmental groups, and thus, post stories that highlight the damage caused by Global warming. They are also manned and run by dedicated persons who really do care about the environment. As a result, all stories must be read with a grain of salt.
none
I just wrote a letter to the editor about global warming and they put in the paper u guys should write to ur local newspapers also because a lot of people dont believe its happening and every little bit helps!!

The Real Question...
Whether you are pro or against Global Warming, can you really disagree with any of the measures we are taking to stop it?
Conservation, efficiency, recycling, emission/pollution reduction.
If tomorrow it were proven that Global Warming somehow didn't exist, do you think that would mean we wouldn't have to do these things?
The temperature has risen
The temperature has risen 1.35 degrees over the last year, and regardless of the earth's natural cycle, it cannot explain why the carbon dioxide levels have risen hundreds of times.
Global Warming is not man made.
Global warming is a natural cycle the earth goes through. It goes through these hot and cool cycles and has been for thousands of years. It is not cause by humans but by the sun and its solar rays, and water vapor. In the past 100 years the total the temperature has risen is .05 degrees, I am really not to worried about. I think we should try to keep things looking clean and nice, but I am not worried about Global Warming at all.
