The silent epidemic is an organization which held a summit on May 9th, 2007 with the purpose of launching a nationwide movement to end the drop out crisis in American high schools. The summit brought together over a hundred organizations and sponsors in an effort to help resolve this serious but often overlooked and underpublicized problem within the American school system which has been nicknamed the "silent epidemic".
