My friend isn't anorexic, but she is really, really, really skinny. I'm worried that someday she will be anorexic and so are my parents. She doesn't eat that much and she only eats super healthy foods. I just want other kids to know that it is never a good idea to skip meals/snacks. It is okay to have some junk food once in a while, too. Please don't go on a diet unless your doctor tells you to. Your friends love every inch of you whether you think you're fat or not.

she needs to realize that
she needs to realize that she is fine the way she is .. no need to go to such extremes to keep up with a certain way to look, especially when you know that people love and accept you
it's hard to say what to do
it's hard to say what to do because people become very sensitive to everything ppl say about them. be careful in how you break it down to her.
Re: Not anorexic but really skinny
My best friend is bulemic. IF you are woried about your friend, you have to say something. Things have gotten so bad with my friend lately. If she does develop an eating disorder, a lot will change for her. She'll eventually appreciate you saying something. But only say something if you're sure.
Re: Not anorexic but really skinny
Its true that there are some naturally skinny people out there. GoWhiteSox, maybe you should talk to your friend and tell them you're worried and that you'll love him or her no matter how they look.
In hearts and spirits!

Re: Not anorexic but really skinny
What heroesdoexist07 is so true because im naturally skinny but i have curves and people ask me what i do to stay skinny and stuff like that but the thing is i don't do anything actully i eat like a pig 10 slices of pizza is a minimum for me but I couldn't gain weight but then i started to play lacrosse and i started gaining muscle weight. One thing that is true though is that when you make fun of someone or critcze someone for their weight skinny or fat it hurts so i think you talk to your friend before any talk of anerxoia or bulima is brought up because be called or accused of any of those hurts alot!!!;)X(

Re: Not anorexic but really skinny
Some people have faster metabolisms than others naturally. Also, if you read a bodybuilding or nutrition book, it's apparent that there are 3 body types - endomorphic, mesomorphic, and ectomorphic. It's ectomorphic, I think, that is the skinniest type. In other words, some people are naturally thinner than others.
Her weight may have more to do with her activities than what she eats. I was one of those people who couldn't gain weight no matter what I ate, but I gained weight very rapidly when I began to work out. She could be the same way.
Re: Not anorexic but really skinny
I think that if you wait to go on a diet until your doctor tells you too, it means that youre trying to build yourself up from the unhealthy state that you are at. If you try to maintain a healthy diet before your doctor tells you to, you are preventing yourself from the things that your doctor might tell you to go on a diet for.
Also, I know that you may be concerned about your friend, but she might be very hurt if you assume anorexia of her, so just be careful. I've lost a lot of friends because they've made the same assumption and really hurt my feelings.
Finally, I agree with not skipping meals because it only slows your metabolism, which will make you gain more weight.
