My sister was taking a bath one time and I came in. The bath was about past her belly button but yet really high! There was so much water in there and all she uses it for is to wash her body! Each time she uses shampoo and conditioner she puts her head under the faucet and lets the water run for about 5 minutes each time. I was outraged! I talked to her about saving water and she just who cares! And then we have a neighbor who spends every morning watering her flowers and sends all that water down the street. I'm getting really sick of people wasting all that water. They don't know how close it is to gone. What could we do about this?

Water is a replenishable
Water is a replenishable resource. This means it keeps recycling itself after it is used (not all the time, but most) Unlike oil that is burned off when converted to electricity or heat, water goes into the sewage system and goes to a water treatment plant, gets treated and cleaned, and then recycled back into the pipeline.
This does NOT mean that people should leave the faucets on while brushing their teeth or taking a bath. Inform your sister that half of the world still doesn't have enough water to even drink and that it is somewhat selfish to leave the faucet on while bathing. Obviously she needs to use water, but perhaps taking short showers or limiting the use of her water will decrease her wasting water.
Re: Save water!
cstarling, relax. I have to give my brothers a bath. It's not big deal, it's like walking into a locker room. I really like the pamphlet idea. I think I'll do that this weekend. Contact the water company and see if they'll give you any info you can use. Make sure you can put things in people's mail box, or maybe just knock on people's doors. I'm not allowed to stick things in people's mail boxes here since it's considered "private property". Just make sure so you don't get in trouble. GREAT IDEA!!!
Re: Save water!
Why did u walk into your sisters shower? thats mad sketchy
Re: Save water!
I think that if we should do are part and save water and maybe the others will see it and save water too.
Re: Save water!
Have you heard of "earth ships"? They are environmentally friendly homes that I think are pretty cool. Now those are buildings that really save water.
Re: Save water!
Thanks, those are great ideas!
Re: Save water!
You could start by doing some research on what wasting water really does and how it affects, well, lots of stuff! After that, you could maybe create a mini-newspaper/pamphlet for your neighborhood to share this information. I think most of the time people don't care about wasting water, electricity, etc. is because they don't realize how much it's affecting so many other things.
