From John Mayer's song, "Belief," we hear: "Is there anyone who Ever remembers Changing their mind from The paint on a sign?" And from the song, "Waiting on the World to Change," we hear: "Now we see everything that's going wrong With the world and those who lead it We just feel like we don't have the means To rise above and beat it." This is an important example of learning from the past. The world is still in need of change for the better, and nothing has yet worked on a complete and global scale. Knowing what has not worked is essential for moving forward in life. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. But if it is broke, don't use it. Looking at our human history and our current reality, there are many broken things that have broken--and continue to break--people. Let us not contribute to that damaging tradition. May we always be seeking the beautiful things that work, and may we always be appreciative of those who help us see the need for them--for something better. --- Everyone deserves to know why. Re: The Pragmatic Art: of John Mayer.
i think that you make a great point about realizing what works and does not work, the tricky part is figuring out what does work
i'm a fan of another one of mayer's lines
"belief is the heaviest armor
it makes for the heaviest sword"
--less violence, more belief in the power of working peacefully toward change---
