Happy Holidays?

Do you say Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas? See, I think we should say Merry Christmas, but there are so many other religions, I don't know what to say! What do you say?

dont freak out

If u knw that the person will find Merry Christmas
offensive then u should just say Happy Holidays because
it refers to all holidays

I think that if you don't

I think that if you don't celebrate Christmas that's your choice however, why should those who do celebrate Christmas be forced to call it something else. The real reason for the season is the birth of Christ. If you don't believe in Him then don't celebrate Christmas. But allow those who do believe to rejoice without feeling like we are stepping on anyone's toes.

Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays

I say MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Christmas is a Christian celebration of the birth of Christ. To those non-believers and bah humbugs caught up on the political correctness bandwagon I say SHAME ON YOU. And SHAME ON US for allowing this celebration of love and the birth of Christ Our Savior to be tarnished by a minority of non believers. I say move out of the way HAPPY HOLIDAYS and welcome back MERRY CHRISTMAS.

what difference does it make

if you say merry Christmas or happy holidays? it is just a greeting people. don't start judging people just because of a greeting. personally i think it is better to say happy holidays. cuz it is the holidays.

How true, I honestly believe

How true, I honestly believe commercialism has ruined the true meaning of Christmas =(. I always say Merry Christmas.

lol

haha...................

I'd say Merry Christmas, and

I'd say Merry Christmas, and you can take that however you want. It's a colloquialism and a greeting in the spirit of goodwill. Even if you don't celebrate Christmas, you can still accept it in that sense.

(whoa, how badly did I butcher the spelling of that c-word?)

hmm

What about the religions who dont celebrate holidays? Like mine??? Just asking, not trying 2 start a fight!

I say Happy Hanakwanzmadan.

I say Happy Hanakwanzmadan. Cover all the religions. Hana kwaz ma(for Christmas) dan

Re: Happy Holidays?

I'm gonna have to agree with Wingus here, this thread has gone seriously off topic. I'll do my best to split it.

Re: Happy Holidays?

Those are a perfect example of false religion. Celebrating holidays is against his laws because of the reason that its like worshipping someone else other than him. Another thing, Jesus Christ was NOT born on Christmas day. He was born between October-November. Nobody is sure of the exact date. This is very true. There should be more information on this at www.watchtower.org. Check it out, you might find out some interesting things there. Oh yeah, let me explain false religion: False religion is stuff that people have made up and have put into "their bibles" which is why things are different in most bibles. They have taken Jehovah's name out and have replaced it with Lord or Heavenly Father. Its perfectly fine to call him God, but his first name is Jehovah.

Re: Happy Holidays?

What about the religions that don't have a bible, or are not mentioned in the bible?

Re: Happy Holidays?

I'm simply saying that there is alot of false religion out there, alot of religion isnt true. They make things up and change what it really says in the Bible. Which is why I say there is false religion. I'm not really going to go into this because I will end up offending alot of people.

Re: Happy Holidays?

I am not sure which part of my previous post you are asking about. I will be happy to answer when I know what is being asked.

Re: Happy Holidays?

what does that mean?

Re: Happy Holidays?

I wasn't putting anyone down in my last post. It is never my intention to be vindictive. Why are you so quick to say that there is no truth within every religion?

Re: Happy Holidays?

I'm just saying, Christmas is the day Jesus was born. If you celebrate Christmas, I thought you had to believe in that. I'm not trying to put anyone down. Honestly, I could care less what religion you are, or what holidays you ceelebrate. It's none of my business

Re: Happy Holidays?

Everyone has their own beliefs. And if they decide not to celebrate a holiday for whatever reason, then its their business. They should not be put down because of it. Same as people should not be put down because they do celebrate the holidays or whatever the case may be. And another thing, there is not "truth" within every religion. I'm sorry but there isnt. I dont see a problem in learning about other people's cultures, but there is a thing out there called "false religion". Which is why some people dont celebrate Christmas. Jehovah's Witnesses, are Christians, but we dont celebrate holidays.

Re: Happy Holidays?

Why shouldn't you celebrate Christmas if you aren't a Christian? Is it really that important? All I am saying is I would love to celebrate Muslim holidays as a Christian. I am tired of all the extremist religious people everywhere from every religion. One of my favorite quotes comes from Muhammad Ali :

Rivers, ponds, lakes and streams. They have different names but all contain water. Religions have different names, but all contain truth.

Can people not see that? Why should someone stop from enriching his or her life by experiencing another culture or religion? I am white but I am part of the Black Cultural Alliance at my school because I want to enrich my life and learn about a different culture. Just because I am white should I not take part in the BCA?

Re: Happy Holidays?

Because Chrishtmas is a day to celebrate the day Christ was born. So, if you dont belive in that, why should you celebrate it?

Re: Happy Holidays?

Just asking because most people who arent Christian's usually dont.

Re: Happy Holidays?

I'm serious. Why shouldn't a Christian be allowed to say Christmas to anyone who isn't a Christian? I'm like you, wingus; I don't see why mere words like that should offend.

And yes, I celebrate Christmas. It's a great time to eat great food, hang with the family, and swap gifts. Why shouldn't I celebrate it just because I'm not Christian?

Are you serious? I am not sure I understand.

Personally I don't mind if someone greets me through a different religion. I think it is cool to see the diversity of religion in America. I do however become annoyed when people are offended or outraged because something so simple as a greeting is not p.c.

Re: Happy Holidays?

Wait..........you're an atheist, but you celebrate Christmas????

Re: Happy Holidays?

Yeah. Seriously, any Christian who won't tell me Merry Christmas is another screwball who just lost my respect.

Re: Happy Holidays?

thats what i think. why should christians change for the non-belivers? i dont know
May God be with you and heave a blessed day!

Re: Happy Holidays?

I say Happy Holidays, but that only started this year, when my boss corrected me as to what I should say to patrons at the pool I work at. Honestly when you think about it, even "Happy Holidays" can be offensive to atheists who don't celebrate any holiday. Honestly, I think people should say what they want. Who cares if you say "Merry Christmas" to a non-christian. People who take offense to that need to get over themselves.

Re: Happy Holidays?

lol........

Re: Happy Holidays?

it sure doesnt work that way in the real world, buddy. lol

Re: Happy Holidays?

I'd say Merry Christmas anyway. If that is offensive, then your point of view is pretty fragile to begin with, in my humble opinion...I'm an atheist, but Merry Christmas is the accepted greeting. It just rolls off the tongue.

I'm sick and tired of people being offended, and of political correctness. We all respect eachother, right? Respect my friggin' holiday wishes.

Re: Happy Holidays?

I usually say Merry Christmas. But if I know some one is of a different religion, then I will say happy [insert religion here].

Re: Happy Holidays?

People that come to Canada do not leave their tradidtion behind, Canada is a multi-cultural place and we should respect that. But also so should immigrants and people with differnet religions. People cannot come to Canada expecting al of these great things but not even par take in them. When a Jewish person says Merry Christmas to me, i have no problem witht saying Happy Hanukkah to them! The rule has been since kindergaten that you should treat people that way you want to be treated!

so to everyone

Merry Christmas

Happy Hanukkah

Happy Kwanzaa

Happy Ramadan

or whatever else you celebrate have a good time!!
