My grandma died because she chain smoked cigarrettes..
my oldest brother was sent to jail numerous times because he either was under the influence or had drugs on him..
and my second oldest brother broke his neck because of drinking and driving..
I think cigs and alcohol are worse than weed, but i wouldnt smoke it on a regular basis..my older brother was a drug addict, not just weed but far worse drugs. i honestly think that we need to some how control these substances better..
I volunteer at the
I volunteer at the california drug treatment center and I can't start to describe what I see there everyday. Usually, patients register willingly but they run away after some days because they need another fix. Alcohol addicts are the easiest to help because they stay in as long as it takes.
Well my grandfather died
Well my grandfather died eight years ago, and it was because he was not allowed to drink after serious heart problems, but did so regardless. His condition had been excellent, he was going to recover fully, but he went to a bar, in secret, and two weeks after he got out of the hospital he died.
But these days, alcoholism is not so difficult to treat even alcoholism, there are excellent drug rehab centers out there. It's just a matter of will in the end.

It wouldn't be human to not drink at all just don't make a habit out of it, abuses are what damage your body.

My grandpa died because he was an alcohol abuser, too! : (
I am sad to say that approximately fourteen million Americans, one in every thirteen people, suffer from alcohol abuse or addiction. Over half of Americans have one or more close relatives with a drinking problem. I am one of those peope who have a relative with a drinking problem. My family, particularly my grandma, went through a tragedy caused by alcohol abuse. My grandpa was an alcoholic. He was a great professor at a local elementary school in El Salvador, where my family is from. When he got drunk, he became a completely different person, and tried to stab my grandma with an axe, twice. He and my grandma had six kids. Because of his alcohol abuse he was a threat to my grandma and the kids. Therefore, my grandma separated from him, and raised the kids herself. My grandpa didn't stop drinking, and his job at the school was put on hold a couple of times, due to periods of constant alcohol abuse. My grandma still cared very much about him, and so she took him to a doctor. My grandpa's alcohol abuse had damaged him so much that he was diagnosed with having delirium, caused by his alcohol abuse. My grandma told me that having delirium, he heard voices, he was not well. My grandma took my grandpa to a psychiatric hospital, and he was admitted until he got better. Even though he got out of the psychiatric hospital eventually, he wasn't happy. He & my grandma were still separated, and his experience with alcohol abuse changed his life. He told my grandma that he felt like a failure for not being able to care for his family( his kids & wife). This was all too much for him, I think, and because of that he commited suicide. He hung himself on a tree in his house. He was a great person, my grandma tells me.

Re: Drug/Alcohol Abusers
what?? huh?
Re: Drug/Alcohol Abusers
Statisticallyspeaking, I"m so sorry. My grandfather is an alcoholic. The last time I saw him was at my great grandmother's funeral. My dad and I never got along. They gave a hand shake and moved on. I've only seen him twice in my life. I'm afraid my dad may have an alcohol problem. They're trying to deal with it, but his pride is too potent for him to go to treatment. Anyway, I believe in taking things little by little and exercising our power wisely. We can use things for good and bad. We can use a person as a trustworthy friend, or use that person to receive something more valuable. We can use drugs to cure people, or hurt and kill. We can use alcohol to lower the stress levels, but we can kill someone through alcohol poisoning and every other alcohol habit. We all have power, but we need to use it responsibly and for the good of ourselves and others to prosper. Smoking I have a different take on. I don't see any good to it. It doesn't help in any way and it's basically suffocation. It's just a plan of suicide waiting just for the right moment to grasp you in the arms of death.
Re: Drug/Alcohol Abusers

Re: Drug/Alcohol Abusers
pilmboy, get over yourself. not everyone does bad things. HELLO IM 11! Why in the world would I smoke or drink NOT TO MENTION IT CAN KILL YOU! Ushersgirl probally aint lying. some people actually do some good with their lives. others think the world is after them and make stupid remarks about everyone else to make themselves feel better. you cannot say everyone has tried beer or smoking! how can you assume that just because all your friends (i would be suprised if you had any) do that stuff evryone else does? YOU MAKE ME SICK! you need help!
Re: Drug/Alcohol Abusers
First of all, I don't drink because I'm not 21. I don't see a problem with having a drink here and there, just not abusing it. How would you know what my religious beliefs are? and I'm sorry you feel that way.
Re: Drug/Alcohol Abusers
Ushergirl.... why dont you? whats so wrong with drinking alcohol? its not like your going to keel over and die with 1 drink, or slash 40 years off your life... as for your religious beliefs.... you sadden me greatly
Re: Drug/Alcohol Abusers
Thank you!
Re: Drug/Alcohol Abusers
Ushersgirl hasn't touched any sort of drug in her life. I've talked to her for a while, and never known her to lie.
Re: Drug/Alcohol Abusers
Yeah whatever, I dont think so. I just love how you can come on here and judge everyone.
Re: Drug/Alcohol Abusers
I honestly can say I dont drink.
Re: Drug/Alcohol Abusers
Understandable, that really sucks.
Re: Drug/Alcohol Abusers
I never had an immediate family member die, but my cousin Scotty died from drinking and driving. And about a year ago this girl that my dad was engaged to died from a drug overdose. They weren't together anymore but I still talked to her through email all the time. Out of the blue dad said she had died. I was so upset! I still cry about it sometimes.
Re: Drug/Alcohol Abusers
Although I've never had any immediate relative die of drugs, alcohol or smoking, I've had family members struggle with those things. I think the worst part is that it is extremely hard (especially when you're young) to help them.

Re: Drug/Alcohol Abusers
when people like that die we must talk to god, because he will aide us through the way, he is the only way. Pray with me, I will pray with you, god will speak to you, he is a good god. A loving god. A god we must respect and fear.
