Helping a friend with an eating disorder.

Body Image

I have a friend that has been struggling with an eating disorder for several years. She is in and out of school getting treatment and really cannot seem to overcome this problem. I blame it on the social pressure of my community where being thing, attractive and rich means everything to some people. I have so much more in my life and am very fortunate to know that my real worth is not based on outward appearances. She does not have myspiritual background. How can I help her, any ideas?

Books...

I read a really good book, When Mirrors Lie by Isaacsen Bright. It was about this girl named Bonnie and it started out she was losing weight for a sport I think (its been a while since I read it) and it got out of control. It was a really like real-life type of book, just awesome. I would really recommend it.

do you remember the name of the book? its sounds like it is a good book.

she needs help

i've read a book about girls getting eating disorders because they think they're too fat.one is eating so much they throw up,the other is not eating at all.a psychiatrist or a BIG reason to stop might help your friend stop.i hope it helped!

hope

just keep hope that she gets better. and just be there for her.

prayyy

since she is already getting treatment and help from family and friends and since its not really working, i think the only thing that you can do is to be there to support her, listen to her, and pray for her. pray that God will help her overcome this obstacle in her life.

=] i hope all goes well

There really is no way of

There really is no way of getting rid of an eating disorder. You can try all you want to but it is actually up to the person that has a eating disorder to change their ways.

But the only thing I can say is that worrying about your body is a waste of energy- and time.

PRAY SINCERLY FOR HER,

PRAY SINCERLY FOR HER, ENCOURAGE HER TO APPRECIATE HERSELF. MAKE A PACT THAT EVERYDAY SHE'LL HAVE TO WRITE DOWN 5 THINGS SHE LIKES ABOUT HERSELF AND MEDITATE ON THEM. MAKE IT CHALLENGING....MAKE HER RECITE THEM DAILY!!!

You should let her know that

You should let her know that you are there for her. She is probably going to need a strong support system to really get back on track.
