MANY OF THE YOUNG PEOPLE I AM INVOLVED WITH COME FROM SINGLE PARENT FAMILIES. OTHER THAN MY SON AND ME THE MOTHER IS THE ONLY ROLE MODEL IN THEIR LIVES. I SPEND A GREAT DEAL OF MY TIME TRYING TO TEACH THEM ABOUT BEING GOOD YOUNG MEN, HELPING THEIR MOTHER WITH THEIR SIBLINGS, STAYING IN SCHOOL, GETTING GOOD GRADES, PARTICIPATING IN COMMUNITY ACTIVIES. MANY TRY TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND STILL GET CAUGHT UP OR GET INTO TROUBLE BECAUSE MOST OF THEIR FRIENDS ARE NOT TRYING TO DO THE RIGHT THINGS. THEY ARE CAUGHT UP IN THIS WORLD OF MATERIAL POSSESSIONS AND TEND TO FORGET THE REALITY OF LIFE. THERE ARE NO GYMS FOR THEM TO PRACTICE THEIR SPORT SO WE PRACTICE OUTSIDE AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS WITH METAL RIMS AND NO NETS. WE PRACTICE IN BAD WEATHER, ANYTHING TO KEEP THEM OFF THE STREETS. MAKING VIDEO TAPES, CONTACTING COLLEGES, MAILING OUT TAPES FOR PROSPECTS IS VERY EXPENSIVE. ALL OUT OF MY POCKET. ANY GRANT RECEIVED WILL GREATLY HELP THIS SELF SUFFICIENT ORGANIZATION. WE DO CARWASH FUNDRAISERS, PIZZA SALES OR WHATEVER WE HAVE TO DO TO KEEP THE ORGANIZATION RUNNING. FOR OVER TWENTY YEARS I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET A GYM BUILT FOR THE KIDS TO HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WHEN THEY ARE ON VACATION OR SUMMERTIME. PLEASE HELP IF NOT WITH THE GYM, WITH THE PURCHASE OF SUPPLIES AND POSTAL SO I CAN GET THESE KIDS NOTICED. THE ORGANIZATION CREATED BY ME AND HELP FROM MY SON AND ONE OR TWO PARENTS IS CALLED THE SEVERN CITY BALLERS. ITS A NOT FOR PROFIT ORGANIZATION FOR KIDS 7 TO 21. WE PARTICIPATED IN BASKETBALL TOURNAMENTS ALL ACROSS MARYLAND AND WASHINGTON DC. IVE HELPED OVER 100 PLAYERS ATTEND COLLEGE OR THE MILITARY. I am submitting my Organizations Business Plan/Proposal on behalf of myself and the Severn City Ballerz Basketball Program. This is an aggressive plan/proposal which is to insure the needs of the communities young and the elderly are met. Severn City Ballerz job is to supply the needs of many of today’s youth who are currently skipping school, hanging out in mall’s, doing drugs, getting arrested and nothing else. We are trying to keep them from giving up on themselves and to believe in their dreams. Our Goal is to help them stay in school and off the streets. While many in today’s society could care less about the future of today’s youth, we the staff of Severn City Ballerz are true to our continued efforts of education through athletics. I am thoroughly convinced that with your help and our divine devotion to building a recreation center in the Western District of Anne Arundel County, many lives will be saved, many will leave the streets, many will return to the classroom, and many will return to college. A recreation center designed with Gyms and study rooms will greatly enhanced the community, and will help the youth keep their dreams alive through education and athletics. In summation this plan will serve this purpose: Our vision of building a new Recreation Center so badly needed in the West County District Anne Arundel County, will definitely keep kids in school and off the streets. It will improve their quality of life, it will give them more respect for others, it will encourage them to not only become educated, and top athletes but other avenues as well. Our Plan is to build a youth center that will offer the young people an academic and athletic alternative to hanging out in the local Malls, or skipping school. Our plan is to build a Recreation Center in the Western District of Anne Arundel County that will give young people and the people of the community a viable means to extracurricular activities. Our Goal is to help the young people keep their dreams alive. We plan to service all of Western Anne Arundel County Maryland. Anne Arundel county is a very large community. There is a definite need for a Recreation Center in this community because there is no place during the winter seasons to keep them people healthy and happy if they are not participating in outdoor sports. Basketball is an indoor sport and if they are not competing on high school teams they have no where to turn other than the malls or streets. Our aim is to keep them in school and off the streets. Our dream is to have a facility for the youth all year round. Our objective is have this facility up and running in this community by the year 2009. Our Motto is F.I.T.- U, (Foolishness Is Totally Unacceptable), again we intend to keep them in school and off the streets
