After 9/11

Discrimination

After 9/11, there has been a lot of racial things going on all around the world especially the united states. I mean a Muslim person couldn't even walk out on the street without someone being completely terrified of them. Isn't U.S.A. supposed to be a country of equality no matter of your religion, race, belief or gender? In the media, you would see that oh Muslims are bad, etc but in reality they aren't. If you actually knew one, you would know how nice they are. Many Muslim people owning businesses had to shut them down because no one would go to their stores just because they are Muslims. People classify them as terrorists when they are not. It just gets me so mad when the media and the people automatically start assuming things with out really knowing the truth. Write any experiences you had with racial prejudice...

In regards to racism towards

In regards to racism towards Muslims and people of Arabic descent:

I don't know much about how Muslims and Arabs were treated shortly after 9/11; I wouldn't be surprised if ignorant and short-sighted people treated them badly. But 6 years later, much or all of that attitude has faded. The government itself is not racist in any way towards them, and I'd have to say that the attitude is passed down to the people. At the United States Military Academy, for example, several cadets are actually from Iraq, Kazahkstan, and other central Asian countries. They will rejoin their country's army when they graduate. Not only are they accepted, but they thrive and have yet to experience ANY racism whatsoever. If this is the case at West Point, a generally conservative school, then what does this say about their treatment in public?

I am proud that America has grown past the rampant racism in WWII and the Vietnam era to embrace others as well as we do now.
