San Fran bans Plastic Bags!

Recycling

"SAN FRANCISCO, California (Reuters) -- San Francisco's Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to become the first U.S. city to ban plastic bags from large supermarkets to help promote recycling" What do you guys think?  I think it's awesome because I have so many plastic bags piled up in my apartment and I always forget to recycle them - I should obviously just use re-usable bags when I go!

This is so great!!!! Now, if

This is so great!!!! Now, if only more places would do this...

paying for bags?

Or what would you say to having to pay for bags at grocery stores - not a lot, maybe 10 or 20 cents...Then you might think about how bags you use and would be a great incentive to bring your own...

What do you think?

Next time you buy something

Next time you buy something small from a supermarket or any place that gives plastic bags, just say no bag and either bring your own canvas bag or backpack or just carry it!

I agree!

I agree totally. I wish the would pass this here in Boston. I always feel so bad getting all those plastic bags. They get wasted.

PLASTIC BAGS...

TOTALLY SUPPORT IT!!! LIKE YOU MENTIONED, I HAVE WAY TOOOOOOOOO MANY BAGS OF BAGS THAT I ALWAYS FORGET TO TAKE WITH ME TO THE STORE...DON'T KNOW WHY THAT IS. AND THEN WHEN I DO, I FILL THE ENTIRE BIN UP AT ONCE AND THEY ALWAYS LOOK AT ME LIKE I AM CRAZY. FUNNY HUH? IT WOULD BE DOING ME A FAVOR TO BAN THEM, BUT DON'T FORSEE ANYTHING LIKE THAT ANY TIME SOON IN THIS AREA. WE DON'T EVEN HAVE ANY KIND OF RECYCLING PICK-UP IN MY AREA YET. BUT I AM GOING TO START COLLECTING MY OWN BAGS TO CARRY WITH ME WHEN I GO SHOPPING. AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, I ALREADY REFUSE A BAG IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. BOUGHT A TRASH CAN RECENTLY AND ASKED FOR THEM TO PUT EVERYTHING ELSE I BOUGHT AT THE SAME TIME INTO THE HUGE TRASH CAN. PEACE AND LOVE, SOLEIL

amazing

what gave them the motivation to pass this law?
