I live in Texas and I live really close to the water too. Like most of the people who live on the Gulf I hate Hurricane Season. It's a constant stress having to owrry weather "Is this one going ot affect me?" Of course Global Warming (yes it's real!) Doesn't just affect the number of Hurricanes, but it also affects the temperatures. Sure, it's usually hot in Texas but not this hot. These next few days we're supposed to have highs of 90 degrees. We get that, or we're supposed to get that, in the summertime. Belive it or not, Global Warming is real, weather you like it or not.

As for a Flordian, I'm completely into Global Warming and I've studied it and learned from it. People who live in areas like me ( Pensacola,FL a.k.a. - A HURRICAN CENTRAL!!!) absoultly feel the impact of Global Warming, so those who have doubts about exactally how bad Global Warming is, trust me, take it from EVERYONE at the gulf - It's BAD! REALLY, REALLY BAD!!! Not to metion it...it's almost hurricane season...whee...come on people, we need to do more than e-mail eachother about the problems! People in these places like me are feeling the power of this problem, and we know - e-mails wont do ANYTHING to it

I believe a comment was made about sticking to the facts. Nobody here has really said it doesn't exist. I certainly didn't. We all agree that the temperature is rising. We all agree we should take care of the environment. Just remember that global warming is man made. Global Climate Shift, that is what is scientifically proven. The reason global warming in itself does not work is that while it will warm for a short period, the resulting cooling will be much greater in scope. Hence the term global warming being false. The climate is warming, that is true.

Weather or not global warming is happening or not shouldn't be our main focus. What we need to focus on is how we can change/ help what is going on. We need to do as much as possible to join the cause, not argue weather or not it's happening.

Lol dragonwings, I wouldn't say it doesn't exist, it does. But we only cause .27 percent of it. Small amount. Its more of a global climate change. Its happened many times before. And to Jess. I agree greed is a massive cause of problems, and yes the government should clean up its own projects, but it should NOT mandate to businesses and such. This is out of the United States Governments actual power, though they do insist on doing it anyhow. The people that need to change are the business owners. They are the one that won't change, and if the government trys, well we end up paying more, getting taxed more, and the business will make a minor change. So ask companies to change, NOT the US Government. And also, there will be a planet. Just around 3 billion less people. Global Climate changes such as this will lead to an Ice age. Yes slightly ironic. This is well known by most people though. The world will repair itself, and countries such as the US, Russia, GB and the other powers, will be mostly fine. Given there will be massive wars as we invade mexico and such. But the world will survive this. Earth repairs itself. Heck go back a few million years, volcanoes did a lot more damage then we will ever do. Earth repairs itself. We would all live through it. Just hope you like the cold. Last point, don't beg the UN to do something either, people don't respond as well to being ordered around. Best way to change this through private groups. Not that we can ever change this, but we can keep what we do have clean. Global warming, won't stop it, but we can keep the world cleaner. Anyhow, good points everyone.

I've watched The Inconvient Truth and really, it didn't surprise me. Were distroying our planet and there may have been a point when we could have stopped polluting our Earth and it would have healed over time, but that time has way passed. Now we have to do something, a big something. Single city efforts are nice and they effect that area, but if we want to do something global we need support from EVERYONE! But I know you the reader is smart enough to know that that won't come easily. I've watched enviroment movies, documentaries, and slide shows, and they all say the same thing - We're in some DEEP CRAP! It's deppressing that our world leaders are aware of the fragile enviroment, and it's critical sate right now and THEY'RE NOT WORRIED ABOUT IT! How could you not be worried about our home? Can't they grasp the fact that if there is no planet, there will be NO MONEY!

I have studied Global Warming on my own and have came to the conclusion that it dosn't exist. I think it is just a political tool used by Al Gore and celebrities to gain popularity. I DO think that we should HELP THE ENVIROMENT, STOP POLLUTION, TAKE CARE OF NATURE AND HELP OUT ENDANGERED SPECIES. Believe in Global Warming or not, these are somethings we can ALL agree on!

Ok first off, I am not saying that global warming isn't happening. Second, conservation is very good, we should look at alternate fuels and such. Third, pollution is bad, yes. Fourth I fully support cleaning up our world, we should take care of what we have. Lastly, we really need to stop the doom and gloom about this, Do what we can, but understand it may make no difference. I will explain why below. A point many people miss is that humans cause actually very little of the greenhouse gases. Yes we aren't helping. But we cause less than one percent of the build up. I support measures to stop this one percent, but are we going to avert this, the answer is no. Look at this graph of the past. Now personally 350 thousand years ago, I don't think we were causing this. We are in a natural cycle, sure we can slow it slightly, but we won't actually stop this. Nature does take care of itself. That said, Global Warming is real, man made global warming is real, Our we the main reason, far from it. I just want to provide some information. I fully support the human race becoming cleaner, I love the mountains myself, I would hate to see them polluted. But one volcano will release far more greenhouse gases then we can. Trust the nature can take care of itself, all we can do is do our best to keep our world clean. We can't stop global warming though. Also about The Inconvenient Truth, Al Gore states facts, but he does leave some important information out. We have to look at all the information, sure if you look at just the last 200 years, it looks like we are to blame. And we do effect it. But Notice on the graph, this happens at set intervals. Many people today don't believe in Global Warming. For the many averge people like non-scientist, who actually believe in Global Warming often think Global Warming is past their life-time, but sadly it isn't. Now I know a person who did not believe in global warming because she said there were many scientist who did not believe it is happening. I am not sure but I think now, all scientists, or at least the majority of them believe in it.

Those who do not believe in global warming are complete idiots. The facts are astounding. Global warming is happening and it is very obvious. When I saw an Inconvenient Truth for the first time, I remember seeing the chart that compares CO2 and temperature. I was amazed. I could not believe they were so identical. That in itself is a big slap in the head for all of us, saying that global warming is real!

You didn't even have to see an Inconvenient Truth to believe in global warming. I live in PA and the last few winters have been nothing compared to to how we used to have. We don't have to wear jackets untill much later in the year and we've only had a few snow showers.

As much as I hate the cold and love the heat, I know global warming is a serious problem that needs to be solved. I would love it to stay warm in the winter where I live, but I am not selfish so I will still try to do my part in beating this feud with greenhouse gases, because the whole earth (and the humans, animals, and plants on it) will suffer.

We're already experiencing record temperatures and melting icebergs. Global warming is 100% real. I guess people will fight claims made about any topics...its kind of sad, actually. <3

i believe global warming is happening. you can see the effects it is having on our weather. last year our winter on the east coast was extremely warm while this year we have broken the record for the most snow accumulation in a winter.
some people say to me that it isnt that bad and that we arnt suffering. but if you have seen the movie an inconvenient truth the example with the frogs and hot water explains why people arnt noticing it. we're used to the changes so we dont think it is bad when in fact it is destroying our planet.
i have talked to my friends about it and they think its a joke. i think that to help fix it we need to first help people understand that it is happening.

just a quick comment - I do indeed believe that Global Warming is happening and anyone who says otherwise is just trying to avoid facing the inevitable.

In response to tcgoalie's comment about "born-again Christians" and "religion is once again trying to disprove science", I honestly think that there are ways for both religion and science to coexist and that we do need both.

Regardless of whether or not a supreme being created Earth and all the celestial bodies - people still have the choice to treat their home well or not. If they decide to abuse the planet, its their own punishment - if they decide to take of the planet, God will help them (us) leave a prosperous life.

Not that I'm a passionate about religion in any way - I'm actually quite ambigious...but I feel that we should embrace both religion and science - and just because you have faith in God, doesn't mean that we can't believe that Global Warming is happening.

Not to go all sciency on you, but its not just the extra gases in the air making it hotter. As the sun gets older and starts to turn into a red giant, it gets bigger, reder and hotter. Soon its gonna get so big it'll swallow Venus and Mercury in its firy path and fry Earth into a fire ball. Then it'll shrink back down to a small, cold, almost grativy-less star and Earth along with the other five planets. But this wont happen for like, another, umm.......

Global Warming is as real as it can get. The sudden change in the weather this time of the year isn't normal. The levels of Global Warming is at critical.

I work with a guy that thinks that way. He is one of those crazy "born-again" Christians (no offense meant to anyone). He always tells me that the "instruction Manual", i.e. the bible, says its not going to happen like that.

I've also met various people that also believe the same thing. Using a common ground along with other arguments throughout time; I think that religion is once again trying to disprove science.

Other factors lead to disbelief in people. We all know the theories that this is just a big government scam to steal our money. The plain truth is that none of the money you put out to better the earth through you own life gets back to the federal government.

The global warming movement is for the good of common people. If we all did our part, and let the planet heal, come summer 10 years from now you wouldn't hear anyone moaning and groaning about how damn hot it is. You would also be able to share the joy of snow with your kids (unless you hate snow of course).
