Do Something Good for You! Project Ideas
Your grant should start with a great idea that does something about healthy living in your community. So try asking yourself these questions:
- Do your friends eat junk food all day without a care in the world?
- Does your community lack good physical fitness options?
- Do you want to create healthier lives in your school and community?
- Then Do Something about it!

Check out these ideas to get you started...
- Create an after-school cooking club — make tasty but healthy recipes and share the yummy results with your friends and family!
- Adopt a trail. Gather your classmates or even brothers, sisters, mom and dad to clean a local trail — identify biking, hiking, or walking trails that need debris or brush clean-up.
- Start a program to educate elementary and middle school kids about the importance of eating fruits, vegetables, lean protein and whole grains and getting daily exercise.
- Build a dog park. Can you or your friends build an outdoor space where pets and pet parents can get active together?
- Campaign for healthier lunch options in your school cafeteria.
- Plant a community garden.
- Mobilize a group to volunteer at a local animal shelter — by taking the shelter animals for their daily walk, you and your friends can give back while meeting your daily 30-minute fitness requirement.
- Create a family night program at your house. With your parents, choose one or more days a week when you and everyone in the family can prepare and eat a healthy meal together. Share your recipe for success with your friends and classmates!
- Pioneer a healthy eating awareness campaign at your school.
- Start a non-competitive walking, running, or hiking club at your school.
- Introduce a pet therapy program at a local nursing home to boost peoples’ moods and increase social interaction.
- Create a dog-walking club in your neighborhood to ensure that all the pets and pet parents get plenty of exercise’
- Volunteer to coach a youth sports teams and mentor them on the right way to eat healthy for youth athletes.
