Bangladesh Cyclone

Disaster Response

I was wondering what everyone thought about how we can help the victims of the cyclone in Bangladesh. Currently there are over hundreds of people who are in dire need. Many are residing in shelters; however, there is a lack of food, treatment, etc. Any ideas?

HANDS ON DISASTER RESPONSE DEPLOYS TO BANGLADESH

Local group deploying for volunteer relief project to cyclone disaster area

CARLISLE, MA 12/11/07 – Hands On Disaster Response (HODR), a volunteer-driven 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization, announced the launch of a volunteer project to help the devastated areas in Bangladesh that were affected by Cyclone Sidr. This disaster, the most significant in Bangladesh in over 15 years, hit the coastline November 15th, killing over 3,500 and extensively damaging over 1 million homes, businesses, and schools.

On November 29, 2007, a HODR team arrived in Dhaka, Bangladesh to assess the areas affected by the cyclone. The team coordinated with other NGO’s while in Dhaka, then headed down into the affected areas, determining that HODR volunteer resources can assist the approximately 8 million people affected by this storm. Please visit our website www.HODR.org for updates on this deployment.

HODR is now accepting monetary donations to aid the survivors of the cyclone and offset the costs of the project. Donations can be made securely on our website www.HODR.org. All donations are tax-deductible and will be used effectively in this relief project. All funds donated to HODR go directly towards these efforts to help run a successful relief project.

HODR’s Bangladesh Project will begin on January 5, 2008. There is no charge to our volunteers except transportation to the volunteer base. In exchange for volunteer time and resources, HODR provides food, shelter, and a dynamic, rewarding work experience. Please give generously to support our volunteers and the people they assist.

the government in Bangladesh claimed that they have been able to provide sufficient aid to all affected regions. Nevertheless anyone can donate money to the care organization through this link and the organization will send food and essentials to Bangladesh. here's the linkhttp://www.care.org/newsroom/articles/2007/11/20071119_bangladeshup.asp
