PREFACE. ( For problem itself, please skip to paragraph
4, "My Problem", below)
I am a pretty normal person -- perhaps too normal for
this day and age. I adore "preppies" and the upper-class way of life. (My aim in life is NOT to join the Peace Corps, but to become a philantrophist.....I can help others AND myself that way!) "Clueless" and "Sweet Valley High" are two of my favourite TV shows....(but then so is "Alien Nation"....guess this shows I really DO want the best for everyone.) I prefer classical music to rock or hip-hop, and adore Disco music! My favourite reading matter are the novels of Georgette Heyer, (but I also have a soft spot for the novels of Gladys Malvern and Maxine Shore, and the Nancy Drew books that I grew up with.) I love to look at models.....and have a big picture of Christy Brinkly, (now aged 53) on my refrigerator. She looks to be 25....so, why, (at 62) can't I? (I have lost 10 pounds since putting that picture up.) I love the ballet, and compose my own music. (OK...composing music isn't that normal a thing....guess I inherited that talent from my grandfather, who, years and years ago, was assustant bandmaster in the Czarist army.
I guess what I'm trying to say here is that I'm NOT a rebel...and I'm proud of that. I only wish I had enough money to go to a "seven sisters" ivy-league college, then get a job in an art gallery, (that pays little, but you MEET people there).....and then, hopefully, follow the life, (but not the death) of my idol....Princess Grace of Monaco...... (sigh!)
I'm the "All-American" girl all right....and/or dearly want to be. (I sure don't FEEL like a so-called "senior citizen".....I feel like a senior in high-school! (And THOMAS PARR, born in 1485, lived to be 152 years old. So.............)
PROBLEM
The one area in which I certainly am NOT the "All-American Girl" is the fact that I LIKE TO EAT RAW MEAT! RAW GROUND TURKEY, TO BE PRECISE. I've heard all the advice and warnings about triconosis and salmonella....but so far, (in 2 years of doing this), nothing ill has befallen me because of this eating habit. No -- I'm not a zombie or vampire or anything that romantic.....I just like the TASTE of raw, ground turkey better than cooked....and of course clean-up is much easier, too!) I figure that, despite the warnings printed on every package of ground meat, (and turkey), so much care has been taken by meat producers that, 99% of the time, we really have nothing to worry about. Eating Raw Food is also considered healthier by many people....but I wonder if this includes raw ground meat and poultry?
I usually buy prepared, but simple food, (canned tuna and salmon, canned and frozen spinach and vegetables), and
do warm these up on the oven before eating them. Clean-up, however, is much simpler when warming prepared vegetables, (in their own trays), than cooking meat. Guess I'm really just lazy.....but could raw meat actually be good for you, just as some other raw food is????? Does anyone else do this???????
PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR OPINIONS, (AND POSSIBLE CONNECTIONS WITH OTHER RAW MEAT EATERS OF WHICH YOU MAY KNOW!!!!)
Thanks!!!!! : )
P.S. I've tried being a vegetarian, but don't think I couldever stick with it becaause 1) I like the taste of meat, 2) As an agnostic, (one who believes in God, but not in ANY organized religion...at least for me), I know and honour the words in the Bible, which state that "God Gave Man Domnion Over The Animals", 3) If I met a hungry cow, (or turkey), on a lonely road, I'm sure THEY would have NO compunction about eating Me!) However, though vegatrianism is not for me, I deeply respect vegetarians, and have 2 vegetarian friends, to whom I pass on vegetarian eating tips, (such as brands of cheese not made with animal rennet) to them. I also try to eat meat substitutes 2 or 3 times a week. Vegetarians are the KINDEST people in the world, and I deeply honour them for that!
Thanks again! And if you know of any "raw meat eaters society", and/or reasons why raw meat (and turkey) are good for humans to eat, plese advise!!!!!
