The media's had a heydey with the announcement that Brit's lil sis is preggers. The irony! Wasn't she recently hailed as "model teen" ... Hmmm. So, what's your take on the issue? While teen pregnancy has declined in the past few years, the recent news shows that the problem hasn't gone away.

Teen Pregnancy
Shes only 16!!!! It makes her living up to her sisters reputation.
the issue of teen pregnancy
the issue of teen pregnancy will never go away.
Jaime Lynn can redeem herself
Jaime-Lynn can still be a role model to pregnant teenagers and redeem herself in the public eye if she and Casey choose to do the right thing and get married. I know that it will be difficult for both of them, but young couples have done so in the past-I know a couple who got married at 16 and stayed together for around 60 years until the husband's passing. She can still retain her "good-girl" image by making the wedding a public affair, taking responsibility for her actions, and promoting family values. Also, it would be a good move for her career-more TV shows and magazines would be willing to publish her story if she and Casey choose to do the responsible thing and tie the knot.
intresting
I belive that we all make mistakes. She has made a mistake and the media should stop critisizing we all make mistakes.
But, hey at least she's got money. She can take care of that baby. I can see her being a good mother, she is still a good girl it does not mean that just because she has a baby she will change.
She'll be fine. I hape that other teenagers take this as a lesson to not have a child while you are a child yourself
Take Out the Lessons
When I found out that Jamie Lynn was pregnant, I was not totally shocked. Her pregnancy is a complete reflection of the parenting and influences she had as a child, which is one of the leading causes of teen pregnancy in general. Jamie's parents were always busy giving Britney the attention and guidance, leaving Jamie with very little to none. This trend continued for years- allowing the build up of the desire of attention. Her parents and older influences, such as her sister, let this happen, although Jamie's irresponsible actions were also to blame.
Her pregnancy in general is a good and bad lesson to her fans- it shows what can happen when one is in Jamie's position, as well as shows the fans what not to do. Even though it may have been a great let down to her fans, she showed the world that these large issues can effect anyone, including a celebrity with a spotless record.
I hope that Zoey101 is canceled to show her fans, particularly the younger ones, that teen pregnancy is not okay. I also hope that Jamie does something more to reach out to her fans and explain what anyone can fall victim to. That would help make up for her public mistake- by pulling out the lesson within the mistake.
Teen Pregnancy
Nickoldoen and other teen watched networks will have to monitor what they are showing their audiences. Jamies pregnancy is not a good example to the youth that embrace her as a role model. Teens now need to embrace someone with strong values and goals that are not motivated by a boy or girl, but by the future.
Nickelodeon will actually
Nickelodeon will actually drop the whole show. Jamie is supposed to be a role model for teens. Obviously becoming pregnant at the age of 16 is not being a responsible role model. I was told Nickelodeon will more then likely try to finish off this season of the popular show but who knows.
I still think it might be too early to tell.
-She could have an abortion.
-The show could make a drastic change and cooperate and include Pregnant Jamie into the storyline.
-Nickelodeon could drop the show
-MTV could pick up the show
..The possibilities are endless
I dont want to judge her- I
I dont want to judge her- I dont know the whole situation. She obviosly didn't mean to get pregnant at 16. She made a mistake, and sadly, its going to affect the rest of her life. But I think that she should have thought more about the massage she could be sending out to her fans. Many of the kids who watch her show are young, and if they see this, then they might think its ok. Young girls put her on a pedestal and see her as a role model, and she should think about the image she portrays to them. If she was going to have sex she should have been more careful about using contracepton and she shhould have thought more about the possible concequences. Jamie Lynn has just ruined her television career, and she is going to have a hard time soon. Hopefully she wont follow the same path as her sister.
gr8 op/a little too late
Considering it is a great opportunity for a Linda Ellerbie special, it should not have taken this long for some awareness to occur.
actually, just read
actually, just read something saying that they might be airing a special on teen pregnancy .. that should be interesting
i wonder how nickelodeon is
i wonder how nickelodeon is going to handle this
that's pretty sick. what
that's pretty sick. what sort of message is she sending out to her young fans?
no mention of protection?
I don't want to judge her too harshly - she's only 16 - but in the articles I saw, there was no mention of protection. Her advice for other teens is to wait. Since that is obviously an unrealistic goal for many (abstinence-only education has been proven ineffective time and time again), how about promoting condom use or birth control so that other teens don't fall into her same trap...
