See It: The Community being helped
You think you can't do anything to save lives? Think again!
Everyday there are so many people who need blood to stay healthy and alive. Blood Source is one Blood Bank that helps people (us) give something so valuable to others who need it. It is estimated that almost everyone, at one time or another will need blood. It can save their life. Imagine that a loved one you are very close to needed blood. Wouldn't you do everything in your power to help them? So what's the difference between your loved one who needs help and someone else's loved one? Not to brag, but my dad has donated blood over 1180 times. That is approximately 148.5 gallons. I can't even begin to imagine how many lives he has saved. That is amazing!
He has an account with Blood Source for our Church, and four times a year, we have a blood drive at Church. All of the units of blood from that drive and whoever else donates outside of our drives, is put into our account. Anyone in our Church who needs blood has access to the Church account. That includes a six-year old girl who attends church with her parents. This past year, ('07), she was diagnosed with leukemia. We had a blood drive in honor of her. Thankfully, she is now in remission, but will still have chemotherapy treatments and blood transplants for the next (at least) 2 years. She couldn't be doing as well as she is without blood donated from people who want to make a difference in the world. You can join that cause. Donate Blood. It helps everyone, including you, sooner or later. Blood Source website: www.bloodsource.org

Feb 08 Blood Drive
We had our latest blood drive last Saturday. It was successful, but disappointing. We were hoping for at least 38 units of blood, and no thanks to the sickness going around, we were only able to receive 29 units. But thanks to all of our brave supporters and donators! =)
Next!
Our next blood drive is this Saturday. We have quite a few ppl signed up to donate, and this time around, we have recruited a few more ppl outside of Church and in the community. I received an update about the little girl I mentioned above a day or so ago:
"Thank the Lord-------S. has overcome the most difficult parts of her treatment. She has entered "Maintenance Phase". This is the last phase lasting until Oct 2009. Her blood labs are on the way to recovering.
A few months ago, because of her chemotherapy, she lost reflexes in both legs. Usually only about 25% of those will regain. I am grateful to say, she has regained them!!! Yeah!!!
Now, she will have IV chemo only once a month, instead of several times a week. But she will be taking oral chemo meds everyday. She is in great spirits and is excited to have jumped over another hurdle.
Thank-You for your prayers. The Lord has answered them and has kept her safe. Please continue to pray for good health."
Thank you to all who donated and supported S. and her family.
LOVED the project!!!!!
I sent this page to my friends and they loved it! They will be posting comments soon. I had them sign on as me, so it will look like it's me sending in comments. I can see that one of them did leave a comment, but he signed in as me, so it looks like me saying "wow". ya, that comment isn't from me!
