Lately the headlines have been overflowing with scary stories about the violent anti-Chinese uprisings in Tibet, mass arrests, dozens of casualties and deadly rioting. Since we're on the other side of the world, we often feel helpless and unable to do anything about it. I know I did. But there's a lot you can do, and DS put a list together for you.
Put your peeps on to the reality!
Email your friends and family about the Olympics and China’s role in oppressing Tibet. And put them on to the history of the problem, which many people don't know goes back hundreds of years.
Holla at Dubya!
Let the President know how you feel. Tell him he shouldn't attend the Olympics - not even as a "Sports Fan!" And tell your friends and fam to follow suit! The more people do speak out, the likely he is to listen! Send Bush an e-mail to: comments@whitehouse.gov.
Start a movement
Start a club at your school to Free Tibet. School people on the beauty of Tibetan culture while spreading awareness about human rights. And don't be scared to bring other Tibetan support organizations in on the game. There's tons of people out there working to bring about some real change. Remember: there's power in numbers!
Let your local politico know!
Write or call your local representative about the crisis in Tibet. The Action Network has a template set up for you, so all you have to do is enter your name and send it off! You can also personalize the letter if you want your passion to shine through.
Do your thing! Don't be scared! Then let DS know what you did!
