This is absolutely ridiculous to allow people to carry guns next to the president. There is a public safety risk for all in a public area to be carrying weapons, and institutions like schools already prohibit such actions for the sake of everyone's safety.
I think it all depends on the intent. If the person is mentaly competent and means no harm, that is their right. But if the person is beligerent and mentaly unstable, they shouldnt be able to. And its not just around the president, it applies everywhere.
Guns are bad. but they are able to bear arms. The question is if its ok near the president, not if its ok to have a gun atall. The law says you can have guns, and as much as i hate them, I have to say that they are legal...
It's their right. And if we made these changes for Barack Obama, why wouldn't celebrities, ambassadors, or government officials be allowed that. He's no different really. In some ways, celebrities have just as much power in our societies.
They legally have the right to do so...do I support the fact that people might exercise that right...absolutely not - unless you are protection the President. The question brings up a legal issue without providing room for values..which often collide. So where I answered that it is their right in the vote..I would advise against carrying a gun when in the presence of the President...afterall you can't deny someone's rights...but the question makes values and rights collide, something that often happens...unfortunately.

a gun that is just wrong!
It actually depends who is holding the gun. If like someone from the FBI was holding it.... it should be ok...
You have the right to bear arms, but why would someone bring a semi-automatic near the president its just wrong!!but yet they have the right!
