I dont think that money will make a difference in this case. In fact, won't it tempt a person the other way?

I think I would totally lose some weight if someone was going to pay me like $40 for every pound. Something like that, idk.

I think it would give you more incentive to win but should not be your main focus. In my case, I recently lost mega weight, my parents bought me entire new wardrobe which was great! But I did it for myself!

You know, it's kind of ridiculous how America thinks money is everything. To lose weight, you have to be dedicated to becoming more healthy. I personally don't know whether or not it would for me. I think, being very much overweight, I know what I am talking about. Money? It's nothing. Sure, I need it... but I can live pretty much without it. Well, I need it for bills and food and stuff but not bad enough it bribes me to lose weight.

i think that u shouldnt bribe yourself, but if losing weight gets me money, then i'm getting healthier and i'll get money, which will help my parents pay the bills and stuff, which i think is great.=)

but i would only lose wieght if i was overwieght.

I think its weird if you are bribed to lose weght. I would lose weight just because i wanted to

Being payed to lose weight is just plain wrong. This could seriously contribute to eating disorders, causing teens to take extreme measures to lose weight and get money.Yes, money can make people lose weight, but it can also cause eating disorders. The effects of eating disorders? Read Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson.

paws17,
I think you made an excellent point!! In fact, I'm clearing my vote, and voting again because of what you said. I didn't think of that, and I think you're absolutely right. Your point is superb, and your eloquence is it comparable!

this isn't a bad idea but we also have an underweight problem in America to where people might just use this as another excuse to become bulimic.

It's cool to get money, but for losing weight? that's just plain wrong.

I don't think people are offering money to those who are already slim, probably only to people who are overweight and obese. There is no problem with this; if someone can't motivate themselves then what is wrong with money being a motivator? Have you ever seen The Biggest Loser? People may initially lose weight to get money, but will eventually realize that their lives are at stake.
PS @thefutureactress; for someone who is admittedly "very much overweight" you probably shouldn't be so offended by an extra motivator to drop the pounds.
jamieescobar says:
i think definitely money works as a bribe many would lose weight for a little bit of extra cash why not...

i am currently trying to lose weight and i am not getting paid but it would most likely go by faster if the money were their. i was VERY large and recently lost about 35 pounds but and i still have about 40 more to go. this subject is very important because being over weight complicates every thing including your health.
