Darryl Hannah is all about saving our oceans, from its sharks and dolphins to the water itself. She has signed on to the Hallmark Channel's movie "Shark Swarm," which premieres this Sunday, because of her passion for the environment. She told the New York Vue that the film "can bring attention to sharks and the terrible things that are happening to them... They cut off the fins and throw [the sharks] back in the ocean." Darryl plays a mother who becomes outraged when she discovers that toxic chemicals are being pumped into nearby coastal waters, affecting the underwater life.
She's also signed on to narrate the new IMAX film called "Dolphins and Whales 3D." Some of the many organizations she is involved with include Reef Check [1], Sustainable Biodiesal Alliance [2], and EcoAmerica [3]. “Unfortunately, there isn’t enough being done to protect the ocean, it doesn’t factor as large as it should in the climate crisis debate,” she told Diver Magazine.
Hannah, for one, is doing her part to combat global warming- she drives a car with fuel made from recycled fast food grease, and her home is solar powered.
