Dog calls 911 and saves owner

John Stalnaker is alive today thanks to his best friend, Buddy, an 18-month-old German Shepard.

John was having a severe seizure, so the specially trained animal bit into a device which alerted the police. Operators tracked down the number and realized an assistance dog was calling for help. Arizona Police arrived three minutes later. Stalnaker spent two days in a hospital and recovered from the seizure.

Buddy, 18 months old, is able to press programmed buttons until a 911 operator is on the line. And, get this: this isn’t the first time Buddy has saved his owner’s life. Twice in the past, Buddy has called for help when Stalnaker was having seizures.

Ten years ago, Stalnaker suffered severe head injuries during a military training exercise. The seizures are a result of those injuries.
