A large portion of the country sat on the edge of their seats in front of their televisions last night to witness the historical speech Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin delivered at the convention.

Do Something reached out to our Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) to get an inside on the reaction from teens. Here's what they said:

Jordan S., 15, Marietta, GA

I was happy with her presentation. She was comfortable in front of the camera and crowd and represented her party well. Her message underscored her grassroots journey through politics and although some of her quips were stinging, I suppose that that was what she was there for.
As a person with a congenital disability and still seeing and knowing bullying aimed at the disabled community, her stance as a disability advocate and her position as a leader of a state where there are more male voters than female it was a challenge to become Governor, therefore, I believe that she would make me more likely to vote for her party.

I thought that Palin did a good job selling her ticket during her speech.  I like how she made issues more personal in order to bring in more voters (ex: when she mentioned that parents with children with disabilities will have an advocate in the White House).  She is a good public speaker (I think that she's more convincing than McCain).  But, I do not agree with McCain & Palin on too many big issues, such as their stand on the war.  Although she did a good job delivering a speech, I still would vote for Obama if I was eligible.

I thought her speech was very witty and in my opinion bashed the media’s criticism of her as effectively as possible without offending anyone. I think that she represented herself and her party very well by trying to make herself "one of the voters" with the soccer mom comment. Another comment that I think did her a lot of good was the one about how she was a contemporary politician who isn't following the corruptness of the others. Her speech made me feel much more comfortable voting for McCain in the upcoming election.

I thought her speech was very well-put, but at the same time insulting. I think the McCain campaign is using her as a scapegoat, it seems.

She represented her party exceptionally well. She told them exactly what they wanted to hear.

If anything, she re-affirmed my Democratic ways. But, if I wasn't as politically involved as I am, and I just heard of her, I would be more inclined to vote Republican. She really made Obama sound like a complete moron.

I thought that she did a good job, but I am definitely voting Democrat in this election. It's my first time voting and I'm excited to be part of such a monumental election!

Gov. Palin's speech was impressive. I think she spoke very eloquently and touched on important topics for the GOP to sway voters. As impressed as I was with Gov. Palin, it does not change my mind as to which way I'm voting. Truthfully I wasn't sure who I was voting for until the Vice Presidential candidates were announced. I have always been a fan of Joe Biden, being Catholic and a Democrat, he embodies almost everything I want in a candidate.
