'Fat' Tax Coming to US?
Nearly 34% of Americans are obese. And we soon might be following in Europe’s footsteps with a new “fat” tax . (Cya late night pizza and large coke.)
A recent study from the British Medical Journal found that a high tax on unhealthy foods could stop increasing obesity rates. Denmark, France, and Hungary have already imposed the tax. Here’s a list of food/drinks that have seen a tax hike (warning: some of your favs might be on this list):
- Butter, milk, and cheese
- Oil and processed food
- Soft drinks
- Pastries, salty snacks, and food flavorings
