Kobe Bryant Helps Bridge Cultural Gaps For Teens

Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant killed two cause birds (like angry birds but helpful) with one stone this past Thursday when he showed a group of teens from LA and some teens from China their way around the court.

Two charitable organization Kobe is tied to helped the NBA star and the two groups of teens come together to learn about basketball and different cultures: Bryant's own Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation that brought some of the teens from China and LA and After-School All-Stars, Los Angeles that already provided the LA teens (along with elementary and middle school students) with after school enrichment activities; Bryant has been an ambassador with the organization for the past five years.

Nike China and AEG sponsored ten Chinese students to join some students from the After-School All Stars program in their basketball games hoping the groups of students will have an opportunity to meet people with different cultural backgrounds they wouldn't be able to normally.

Even after the Chinese students go home (after a pretty exciting week full of trips to Disneyland, Universal, and ESPN Zone) students in the LA All-Stars program will have a chance to learn more about Chinese culture thanks to Bryant's foundation. It funds classes in Chinese culture and language for the students.
