Reducing your carbon footprint involves making changes around your house and in your community. But what about your own backyard? Here are five things that you might want to consider changing.
- Charcoal grill. Ditch the coal-burning grill at your next barbecue. We don’t want to pollute the air with smoky fossil fuels. Instead, try using an electric grill.
- Fertilizer/Pesticides. Sure, the grass may look greener and less buggy. But the runoff of harsh chemicals in both of these things can pollute the soil and water around it. Find an organic option instead.
- Gas-powered Lawn Mowers. Why put all those greenhouse gases into the air when they make human powered lawn mowers?
- Normal light bulbs. Have you heard of a little thing called solar power? There’s a huge variety of solar-powered lighting options to choose from. Talk to your parents about making the switch.
