Christina Aguilera not only has a big voice, but a big heart. The four-time Grammy winner has been spreading the word about the UN-sponsored World Food Day, which is this Tuesday, October 16th.
Christina has been tweeting about Molly, one of the pluckiest 13 year olds we know of, who is growing up in a slum of Nairobi, Kenya - one of the poorest places on earth. Molly receives a daily meal from the United Nations World Food Programme.
Last year the programme gave Molly a small flip cam to film her life. Her videos have been turned into a short movie (it’s a lil’ bit of a tear jerker!) that shows how important the school meals are for Molly and her friends. Molly reminds us of how all kids have amazing potential when they get healthy food and an education. In Molly’s video, one of her friends says, “Many children cannot manage to get food at home, so they depend on this food during lunch time.”
You can watch the movie here [1] and then take a 3 question quiz [2]. (Don’t worry, we promise this is far from the SAT!) For every person who takes the quiz, a child like Molly will get a meal. The World Food Programme’s goal is to share Molly’s story, so that 50,000 kids will be fed by this Tuesday. So why not take the quiz, and share it with your friends? Let’s make this go viral! Tweet, facebook, email, tweetbook (we’re kidding, but there should be such a thing, no?!), and text!
