Here at DoSomething.org, we let our winners ride in style. Limousine style that is. Meet Steve, winner of a 4 hour limo ride for his mega awesome Prom for All dress drive. Here is what he had to say about the experience.
What was the hardest thing about completing this drive?
The most difficult thing to complete this drive was keeping it in people's minds. We had dresses dropped off during school hours to the main office or we would stay after other days if people couldn't make our drive day. You have to make it easy for people and make it work for them.
What made you want to do it?
Prom season was right around the corner and students were talking to each other about the cost. All too often we become apathetic… this was an awesome opportunity to unite a class and help students achieve a dream of having that Prom moment we all want.
What is your advice to young people who want to do the same thing/something similar?
Do not try to do everything yourself. Get a small leadership group and delegate assignments. Also use social media. This allowed us to be current and stay on top of people to remind them of our cause. In addition, use the local papers. Lastly, be exciting. People will help if you ask and you believe in your cause.
