As part of the “American Education Week” held November 12-16, 2007, Stuart Pepper Middle school students will participate in the “Acts of Random Kindness Week,” by raising money to build a water filtration system to send to a school in Africa. Did you know that every eight seconds a child dies of a waterborne disease? SPMS STLP students will be selling bottled water at the STLP Showcase on November 8, 2007. All proceeds will go towards purchasing the water filtration system. To learn more about the importance of the system please go to the following link: http://www.lifewater.org.
We will also be promoting acts of kindness in our community by giving an “SPMS BUILD an ARK” Card to anyone who performs an act of kindness. Small things, such as helping a neighbor, family member, or co-worker may be recognized. Remember that acts of kindness do not cost money. This will provide a character education opportunity for our students.
Students may pick up a “SPMS BUILD an ARK” Card in the school’s media center or computer lab. This provides a wonderful opportunity for recognizing a random act of kindness then passing the kindness on to others. You may also print a copy of the “SPMS BUILD an ARK” Card by going to the school website http://www.meade.k12.ky.us/spms/ .
Go to the student information link on the right and click on STLP. You will find an click on ARK CARD. You will need to print the front and back of the card. The cards will eventually come back to the school so we can see how our SPMS students are making the world a kinder place in which to live.
