Claiming Our Rights, Reclaiming Our Children (CORROC)

The CORROC campaign has three main functions: education, support, and organizing/advocacy. Our Plan * To train and institute a "Posse" that will help parents with basic necessities. * To distribute a "Know Your Rights" booklet to give to parents involved in the child welfare system and to hold trainings for families and Social Service professionals. * To organize families to advocate for policies that promotes families and equal treatment of low income people in the child welfare system. One of the things we are advocating for is a redefinition of the term "neglect", another is to reallocate some funding to provide more resources for family support (housing and childcare assistance being two key components) as well as for more funds to go to family preservation and reunification. * To hold monthly meetings to discuss our rights as parents, what we need to do as parents to properly care for our children, what we can do if our children have been removed, and to support each other as we walk through the terrifying process with the Child Welfare System
