The Problem

As the temperature drops, not everyone can afford to buy winter clothes. My NJ home was lucky enough to escape the wrath of Hurricane Sandy, but plenty of nearby towns weren't so lucky. The goal is to collect as many gently used/new coats and jackets, as well as new hats, gloves, and scarves, to help keep people warm, especially in the aftermath of Sandy.

Plan of Action

In addition to raiding our own closets, my friends and I (members of our school's National Honor Society) are placing collection boxes around our town, like at the middle and high schools and the local library, to make donating winter coats convenient. We're also advertising--flyers, Facebook posts, emails, school announcements--to get the word out, so everyone knows about the coat drive.
